AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE FENCING OF ANY PREMISES
WHEREIN CERTAIN ARTICIES OR MATERIALS ARE STORED
IN THE OPEN.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLM-
SECTION 1s AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE:
Chapter 3 is added to Article V of the Rosemead Municipal Code,
the sections of which shall read as follows:
Section 5301. Purpose,
Where any premises are used for the purpose of storing in the
open any furniture, contractors' equipment, metal products, oil or petro-
leum supplies, junk, wrecked auto parts, partially wrecked cars, machinery,
pipes, plaster, rage, roofing materials, waste paper, glass, glass bottles,
stone products, or rubber, the owner, licensee, and occupant shall erect
and continuously maintain a tight board fence of at least eight feet in
height surrounding the property in all cases where flammable or combusti-
ble materials are stored, such fence shall be built and maintained of
corrugated iron or other fire resisting material.
Section 5302. Specifications.
The following specifications shall apply to the erection of all
fencing framework for each board, corrugated iron or other fence referred
to in Section 5301 hareof, and each such fence shall comply with such
specifications, and each thereof;
(a) Each upright post shall be 4 x 4 inches, shall be placed
not over 8 feet apart, and shall be sunk not less than 4 feet into the
ground. Each such post shall be tarred below the surface of the ground.
Three horizontal glrts not smaller than 2 x 4 inches with inclined
bracing in both directions shall be provided at each corner and each
opening, and boarding shall be not less than 3/4 inches in thickness.
(b) Each such fence, and each portion thereof, shall be con-
structed not leas than six inches above the ground, and there shall be
maintained under each portion of such fence an unobstructed opening of
• not less than six inches.
(c) Provided, that where articles are sold at retail from
the premises there may be erected at the kont of such premises an open
wire fence.
(d) All materials used in the construction of each such fence
shall be of such a nature that that portion of said fence facing any
property line shall not present an unsightly appearance.
(e) No advertising shall be displayed on any such fence, ex-
cept upon that portion facing the street; provided, that where arty such
premises are situated on a corner lot, an advertising sign may be placed
within a distance of 25 feet of the corner, facing the front property
line, and further provided, that where there is vacant property on either
side of the premised there may be placed on such side an advertising
sign within 25 feet of the front property line.
(f) Where adjacent lots are used for the open storage of any
article or material mentioned in Section 5301 of this Ordinance, or where
an adjacent lot is occupied by a building with a wall built on a portion
of the common property line, the provisions of this ordinance shall not-
apply along such portion of such common property line.
Section 5303. Penalty.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating, or causing or per-
mitting to be violated, any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed

~-;ttilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable
;r a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprison-
in the County Jail for a period of not to exceed six months, or by
soh such fine and imprisonment. Each such person, firm, or corporation
