AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD AMENDING
CHAPTER 1 OF ARTICLE IX OF THE ROSEMEAD
MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADOPTING THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES BY
REFERENCE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subsection (a) of Section 9100 of
Chapter 1 o Art cle IX of the Rosemead Municipal Code is
amended to read:
"(a) The City Council finds, determines and
declares:
"That the City of Rosemead was incorporated on
the 4th day of August, 1959;
"That immediately prior to the date of incor-
poration the Zoning Ordinance of the County of
Los Angeles regulated and governed and was
applicable to the area in said county now known as
the City of Rosemead.
"That in order to protect the public peace,
health, safety, and welfare it is necessary that
some zoning regulations be in effect for the City
of Rosemead until such time as a full and complete
zoning ordinance covering said City can be adopted,
pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 4 of Title
7 of the Government Code of the State of California;
"That the Zoning Ordinance of the County of Los
Angeles, being Ordinance No. 1494, as amended to
January 1, 1959, is hereby adopted by reference
as the zoning ordinance of the City of Rosemead.
All uses permitted by said zoning ordinance in
the several zones authorized therein shall be
permitted in the zones of the same designation as
shown on the temporary interim zoning map for the
city and all uses prohibited by the terms of said
ordinance within the several zones shall be
prohibited in the zones of the same designation
as shown on the temporary interim zoning map for
the city.
"That this Chapter is adopted as a temporary
zoning ordinance, pursuant to the authority
granted by Section 65306 of said Government Code.
"That three (3) copies of the Zoning Ordinance
of the County of Los Angeles, being Ordinance No.
1494, as amended, are on file in the office of the
City Clerk of the City of Rosemead, and shall be
at all times maintained by said City Clerk for
use and examination of the public."

Section 2. Ordinance No. 3 of the City of Rosemead
entitled TAN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD ADDING CHAPTER
5 :`O ARTICLE II OF THE ROSEMEAD MUNICIPAL CODE AND PROVIDING
FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PLANNING COMMISSION FOR THE CITY
07 ROSEMEAD" is hereby ratified and affirmed and to the extent
that said Ordinance No. 3 is inconsistent with the provisions
of said Ordinance No. 1494 of the County of Los Angeles,
adopted herein by reference, the provisions of said Ordinance
No. 3 shall prevail.
Section 3. That conflicting land uses and uses
inimical to the public peace, health, safety and welfare are
imminent in the absence of the immediate effectiveness of a
zoning ordinance; that the City Council and City Planning
Commission are conducting studies to determine the permanent
zoning of the city; that this ordinance is adopted as a tem-
porary interim zoning ordinance and ohall take a-feet imme-
diately.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of
November, 1959.
