RE: CALIFORNIA CONTRACT CITIES ASSOCIATION ANNUAL PALM
SPRINGS CONFERENCE - YOUTH PROGRAM
The City of Rosemead has been asked to operate the Youth Activity
portion of this year' s California Contract Cities Association
Conference in Palm Springs.
As you recall, we conducted this activity in 1992 . At that time, the
City provided ten (10) part-time staff and three (3) supervisors to
operate the program for seventy-nine (79) children. It cost the City
$ 9, 019 to provide the program and we collected $ 5, 159. 00 which
represented a loss of $ 3 , 860. 00.
Last year, Cerritos sponsored and underwrote the entire cost of the
program for thirty (30) participants.
After reviewing the request, I propose that we operate this year' s
program similar to that of 1992. Part of the staff will leave
Rosemead late on Thursday, so we can prepare the Activity Room which
will be operational Friday morning, (May 14th) and Saturday (May
15th) . Part of the staff will stay over Saturday night and break the
room down Sunday morning (May 16th) , and return to Rosemead.
Attached for review is a draft of the proposed Flier and Registration
Form that will be mailed out to cities.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the City' s sponsoring
the Youth Activities as part of this year ' s Contract Cities Annual
Conference.
