CC - 06-20-68 - Adjourned Meeting,I%~ - 9 • CITY OF ROSEMEAD ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA CITY COUNCIL Minutes of June 20, 1968 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rosemead was held in the City Hall, 8338 Valley Boulevard. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Whiddon at 7:32 o'clock p.m. Mayor Whiddon ordered formalities dispensed with at this budget study meeting. ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen: Andersen, Maude, Pike, Taylor, Whiddon. Absent: Councilmen: None. Ex officio: Armstrong, Farrell, Street. Mayor Whiddon stated that approval of an account did not include salaries or meeting expense, • Page 1 - City Council It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Taylor,'and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 2 - City Administrator it was moved by Councilman Taylor, second by Councilman Pike, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 3 - City Clerk it was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Andersen, and unanimously carried, that this account be • approved as proposed. Page 4 - Finance Department it was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Andersen, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 5 - City Treasurer It was moved by Councilman Pike, second by Councilman Taylor, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 6 - City Attorney • It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Pike, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 7 - Planning Department It was moved by Councilman Pike, second by Councilman Andersen, and unanimously carried, that this account be changed by deleting .01 - Extra Help; reducing .13 Consulting Service from $3,000 to $500.; and deleting the planning consultant name from the narrative; and the account be approved subject to the foregoing changes. r • REVISED CC 6-20-68 REVISED REVISED Discussion indicated that the Planning Assistant is to also be assigned other duties. Page 8 - Personnel Department It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Andersen, and unanimously carried, that this account be ® approved excluding any reference to Los Angeles County in the narrative. Page 9 - General Government Buildings It was moved by Councilman Taylor, second by Councilman Pike, and unanimously carried, that this account be changed by deleting .01 Grounds Maintenance Man $5,050.; and adding .10 Grounds Maintenance Contract (this contract to be awarded by bid) $3,000.; and this account approved subject to the foregoing changes. Page 10 - Community Promotion It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Taylor, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved with the understanding that .11 and .12 are to be administered by the staff under direction of the Council; and .76 be increased from $1,000. to $2,000.; and this account be approved subject to the foregoing changes. Page 11 - Elections It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Mayor Whiddon, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as printed. Page 12 - Non-Departmental It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Andersen, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. • Page 13 - Law Enforcement City Administrator Farrell advised the Council that the following corrections should be made: .Ila General Law Enforcement from $238,595. to $238,972. .llb Traffic Law Enforcement from $77,884. to $78,006. .llc Motorcycle Patrol from $14,095. to $14,116. Lee Morse of the Rosemead Jaycee's presented a resolution of the Rosemead Coordinating Council favoring the hiring of a Deputy Sheriff as a public relations officer. Council indicated they felt a Community Relations officer should concentrate the program in the parks with an • emphasis on crime prevention. A firm outline of the Community Relations program to be submitted to the Council for approval. It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Taylor, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 14 - Building Regulations it was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Pike, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. - 2 - cc 6-20-68 Page 15 - Public Works Department It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Councilman Taylor, and unanimously carried, that .01 Director $13,6081 be deleted and this account be approved as changed. Page 16 - Sewer Maintenance It was moved by Councilman Maude, second by Mayor Whiddon, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Page 17 - Street Construction, Design and Construction Engineering It was moved by Councilman Andersen, second by Councilman Maude, and unanimously carried, that this account be approved as proposed. Mayor Whiddon suggested that since it would not be possible to complete the budget at this meeting that the remainder be held over to a later meeting. The Council concurred and Mayor Whiddon declared the meeting adjourned. Meeting adjourned at 10:45 o'clock p.m. HAYOR C • • - 3 -
