SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RED CURB AT 2542 N. SAN GABRIEL BOULEVARD -
GARVEY WHOLESALE BEVERAGE, INC.
DISCUSSION
This item went before the City Council on August 25, 1998, as part of the Consent
Calendar-Recommendation: Approval. At that time, Councilman Taylor had a concern regarding the
installation of 50'of red curb north of 2542 N.San Gabriel Blvd., as requested by the business owners.
Mr. Taylor stated that he does not see the justification in installing the 50' section since there is
adequate on-site parking and cars exiting the parking lot would usually turn right, into the flow of
visible, on-coming traffic. Subsequently, City Council approved the installation of 30' of red curb
south 2542 N. San Gabriel Blvd. and to retain the 50' of parking on the north side.
Staff later spoke with the business owners and they indicated a concern in regards to delivery trucks
making right turns from the site with cars parked north of the driveway, thus creating difficulty in the
turning radius.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council APPROVE the installation of 20' of red curb on the north
side of the driveway, as indicated in Figure I (See Exhibit "A").
