The meetinwas called to order by Mayor Maude at 7:00 o'clock-p.m. 1. CALL TO ORDER The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Jackman. The Invocation was delivered by Councilman Andersen. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen: Andersen, Jackman, Lowrey, Maude, Stead. Absent: Councilmen: None, Ex officio: !Armstrong, Brown, Farrell. 3. CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS. Councilman Lowrey opened the election return envelopes and he and Councilman Stead read aloud the results. City Clerk Armstrong checked these figures against the Results of Votes Cast sheets. Canvass was as follows: Precinct 1 - Correct Precinct 2 - Correct Precinct 3 - Correct Absent Voter Ballots - Correct. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C!TY OF ROSEMEAD; CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL ANNE};ATI0:N ELECTION HELD IN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, KINOWN AS CITY OF ROSEMiiEAD "ANNEXATION NO. 27" ON THE 13TH DAY OF APRIL, 1 65, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS A` ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. Mayor Maude requested this resolution read by title only, if there were no objections. There were no objections. Attorney Brown presented this resolution by title only. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. ORDINANCE NO. 159. ANNEXATION NO. 27. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION HO. 27" TO THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD. Attorney Brown presented this ordinance by title only. • It was moved by Councilman Andersen, second by Council- man Lowrey, that further reading be waived. Roll call vote as follows- AYES: Councilmen: Andersen, Jackman, Lowrey, Maude, Stead. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. - 2 - • • CC 4-20-65 UNFINISHED BUSINESS L. DISCUSSION OF SENATE REAPPORTIONMENT. Councilman Jackman reported the recommendations form- ulated in the si;, meetings he had attended concerning senatorial district boundaries. Following discussion, it was moved by Councilman Jackman, • second by Councilman Andersen, that.this Council support. this recommendation of the interested communities for one senatorial district and instruct the City Attorney to work with Talmadge Burke and the City of Pasadena toward this end. Roll call vote as follows: AYES: Councilmen: Andersen, Jackman, Lowrey, Maude, Stead. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. 0 5. I Mayor Maude requested Councilman Jackman to continue to represent the City in this matter. NEW BUS I NESS APPOINTMENT OF SANITATION DISTRICT ALTERNATE. Mayor Maude stated he would like to appoint Councilman Andersen as alternate to the Sanitation District representative. It was moved by Councilman Lowrey, second by Council- man Stead, and unanimously carried, that this appoint- ment be ratified. AUTHORIZATION FOR MAYOR AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO ATTEND '701' HEARING IN SACRAMENTO. Following discussion, it was moved by Councilman Lowrey, • second by Councilman Andersen, that the Council authorize the Mayor and City Administrator to attend this hearing in Sacramento. Roll call vote as follows: AYES: Councilmen: Andersen, Jackman, Lowrey, Maude, Stead. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. None. • Councilman Jackman suggested that the Council consider a change in the present policy of withholding building permits from property lying in the path of proposed future streets. - 3 - 4 C20-65 • it was moved by Councilman Lowrey, second by Councilman Andersen, that the meeting adjourn in memory of Everett ;Mansur, the City's first Planning Consultant.
