C. Parks and Recreation Month Proclamation
Pamela Yugar, Interim Director ol'Parks and Recreation, expressed appreciation to

Mandy Wong, Public Safety Supervisor, invited the community to attend National
Night Out which is an annual campaign that enhances the relationship between

Assistant City Manager'I'suJiuchi stated the (..uy previously contracted,�vith the
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to provide the SUCCeSS '1111-Ugh
Awareness & Resistance (STAR) Prograrn. The Unit is cornprised of Deputy
Sheriffs who provide drug, gailg, and violence prevention education to students.
Sample cost estimates will be presented to the City Council as a measuring tool to
compare the number of lessons for grade levels based on the number of schools in
Doth the Rosemead and Garvey School Distr-icts.
