SPECIAL MEETING
OCTOBER 1, 2018
The special meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called to order by Mayor Ly at 6:08 p.m.
in the Rosemead City Council Chamber located at 8838 East Valley Boulevard, Rosemead,
California
PRESENT: Mayor Ly, Mayor Pro "fen Clark, Council Members Armenia and Low
ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Molleda, Assistant City Manager/Interim Director of Public
Works Tsujiuchi, Director of Finance Lieu, Interim Director of Parks and Recreation Yugar,
Director of Community Development Kim, and City Clerk Hernandez

MATTERS FROM CITY MANAGER & STAFF
A. Public Works Construction Inspection Services Merrell Johnson Engineering, Inc.
-- Award,of Contract
Recommendation', That the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into
%woo a contract with Merrell Johnson Engineering, Inc. in a not -to -exceed amount of
$150,000 for Fiscal Year 2018-19, with an annual option to renew two additional
one-year terms.
Mayor Ly inquired if there were any comments by the City Council on the returning
item. There being no comments, Mayor Ly asked for a motion.
Council Member Armenia reiterated her concerns from the last meeting and asked
st,aff to assure the appropriate certificates are in place with the new company. Due
to the limited staff in the Department, she understood the need for the Public Works
Inspector services.
City Manager Molleda stated she appreciated the City Engineer stepping up to do
the inspections, However, it is impossible for the City Engineer to do project
inspections, as well as managing his own work and Capital Improvement Projects
at the same time. Currently the Public Works Department is operating with limited
staff and resources.
ACTION: Motion by Council Member Armenta and seconded by Mayor Pro Tern
Clark to authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Merrell Johnson
Engineering, Inc. in a not -to -exceed amount of $150,000 for Fiscal Year 2018-19,
with an annual option to renew two additional one-year terms. Motion was carried
by the following roll call vote: AYES: Armenta, Clark, Low, and Ly

A. City Council Comments
Counci I Member Arnienta stated she would address a resident's concern regarding
weeds directly with the City Manager.
Mayor Ly asked to adjourn the meeting in prayer for Mayor Pro Tem Clark's
granddaughter, whom was involved in a car accident.
S. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Ly ad journed the meeting at 6:12 p.m. The next regular meeting of the City Council
is scheduled to take place on October 9, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Rosemead City Halt
Council Chamber.
