SUBJECT: GARVEY AVENUE SPECIFIC PLAN UPDATE
SUMMARY
The Garvey Avenue Specific Plan was approved and adopted by the City Council on February
13, 2018 and became effective on April 10, 2018. The Garvey Avenue Specific Plan supports
the development of approximately 1.18 million square feet of commercial development, 892
dwelling units, and 0.77 acres of open space.
At the City Council Meeting on September 10, 2019, Mayor Clark requested an update on the
Garvey Avenue Specific Plan. To date, the Planning and Building and Safety Divisions have
received several plan checks. The table below outlines project information and status:

Economic Development, to implement all potential tools available to develop vacant lots and
under-maintained properties to be reported upon biannually.
