CC - 09-16-59 - Special Meeting• • CITY OF ROSEMEAD ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA September 16, 1959 A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Rosemead was held in the City Hall, 3964 North Rosemead Boulevard at 8:00 p.m. • The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stead at 8:05 p.m. 1. The mayor stated that tomorrow would be the 182nd Anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States and perhaps we should all bear this in mind as we said the pledge of allegiance. The pledge of allegiance was lead by Mayor Stead. 2. Present: Councilmen Buchanan, Cook, Lowrey, Stead, Williamson. Absent: None. Ex officio: Woollett, Ferguson, Stump, Armstrong. 3. It was moved by Lowrey, second by Cook, and unanimously carried that the minutes of September 2, 1959 be approved as written. 4. Councilman Williamson's letter of resignation was submitted. It was moved by Cook, second by Lowrey, that Councilman Williamson's resignation be accepted, effective immediately. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Buchanan, Cook, Lowrey, Stead. Noes: None. Absent: None. Williamson abstained from voting. 5. Councilman Lowrey's letter of resignation was submitted. It was moved by Cook, second by Buchanan, that Councilman Lowrey's / resigantion be accepted, effective immediately. Roll call vote as v follows: Ayes: Buchanan, Cook, Stead. Noes: None. Absent: None. Lowrey abstained from voting. 6. It was moved by Buchanan, second by Cook, that Walter F. Lowrey be appointed to fill the unexpired term of B. A. Williamson. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Buchanan, Cook, Stead. Noes: None. Absent: None. 7. Councilman Lowrey signed the oath of office. 8, It was moved by Cook, second by Lowrey, that the appointment of a councilman to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lowrey be tabled for further study. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Cook, Lowrey. Noes: Buchanan, Stead. Absent: None. Motion died for lack of a majority. . 9. It was moved by Buchanan, second by Stead, that Mr. Wallace A. Jackman be appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lowrey. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Buchanan, Stead. Noes: Cook, Lowrey. Absent: None. Motion died for lack of a majority. After several minutes of discussion, Attorney Ferguson suggested that perhaps the meeting should adjourn and he would be available on Friday evening, September 18, 1959 for a personnel meeting, here in the City Hall at 7:30 p.m. 10. Motion to adjourn was made by Lowrey, second by Cook, and unanimously carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:37 p.m. Mayor City Clerk
