CC - 2002-48 - Consolidated Election with LA Community College DistrictRESOLUTION NO. 2002-48 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, CONSENTING TO AN ELECTION CONSOLIDATION WITH THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, INCLUDING THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT AND ORDERING THAT THE FOUR (4) SEATS ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT APPEAR ON THE BALLOT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2003. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, and will be called by Resolution No. 2002-46, adopted by the Rosemead City Council; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the City of Los Angeles' resolution adopted on October 2, 2002, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit A and incorporated by reference to the resolution, the City Council of the City of Rosemead is hereby requested to consent to a consolidation with the Primary Nominating Election of the City of Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles Community College District, with the City's General Municipal Election scheduled to be held on March 4, 2003; and WHEREAS, the City of Los Angeles agrees to pay its' proportionate share of the costs relating to the conduct of this election. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to General Law Cities, the City Council of the City of Rosemead hereby consents to consolidate the Primary Nominating Election of the City of Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles Community College District for the purpose of electing four (4) Members of the Board of Trustees for the Los Angeles Community College District in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 with the General Municipal Election of the City of Rosemead. SECTION 2. In the event that the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Rosemead should be cancelled due to insufficient candidates, then the City of Los Angeles will be responsible for the conduct of their election within the boundaries of the City of Rosemead. SECTION 3. That Resolution No. 2000-49, previously adopted by the City Council of the City of Rosemead on September 26, 2000, set the polls to close at 7:00; and pursuant to Election Code Sections 10400 - 10418, and the acceptance of this requested consolidation, it is necessary to change the time that the polls will close, to 8:00 p.m., so that all precincts voting on such offices will have the same voting hours, and close at the same times. SECTION 4. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. SECTION 5. That notice of time and place of holding of the election is given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the election, in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall forward without delay, a copy of said resolution to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, and to the City Clerk of the City of Los Angeles. • STATE OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES CITY OF ROSEMEAD ss. 0 I, Nancy Valderrama, City Clerk of the City of Rosemead, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 2002-48 being: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEME AD, CALIFORNIA, CONSENTING TO AN ELECTION CONSOLIDATION WITH THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, INCLUDING THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT AND ORDERING THAT THE FOUR (4) SEATS ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT APPEAR ON THE BALLOT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2003 was duly adopted at a Regular Meeting of the City Council on the 22"d day of October, by the following vote to wit: YES: BRUESCH, CLARK, VASQUEZ, IMPERIAL NO: TAYLOR ABSTAIN: NONE ABSENT: NONE NANCY V DERRAMA, CITY CLERK AGENDA:CERTIFY • 0 SECTION 7.
