ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 8, 2005 \
The regular meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called to order by Mayor Clark at
8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 8838 E. Valley Boulevard,
Rosemead, California.
The Pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Pro Tern Irnperial.
The Invocation was delivered by Pastor David Ortiz of the First Baptist Church of
Rosemead.-
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:
Present: Councilmembers Alarcon, Taylor, Vasquez, Mayor Pro Tern
Imperial, and Mayor Clark
Absent: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: DECEMBER 14, 2004 - REGULAR MEETING
Councilman Taylor motioned for this item to be deferred. Needed clarification of
tapes from Court reporter. Sentences are not on the transcripts. Out of 390 pages,
319 are good, but the rest are missing people speaking, like Mr. Gay and Gloria
Romero, why? Who does the meeting?
Ms. Valderrama stated that the Court Reporter takes her own notes and brings her
own machine.
Mr. Kress stated that a Court Reporter normally take despositions, only one
person talks at a time. The Court Reporter takes shorthand and they are not used
to marking down everyone who is speaking and as you know, people were talking
all at the same time.
PRESENTATIONS: ROSEMEAD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT
AMBASSADORS TO THE ROSE PARADE
Gary Yerrick introduces the two Rosemead High School students who were the
2005 Rosemead Parade Ambassadors. He stated that the students were shown
how they make floats, helped with passing out the programs, helped the
bandmembers keep warm before the parade and furnished water and drinks during
the parade. He introduced Elizabeth Y..... and Joshua Cheng.

1. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
Juan Nunez, 2702 Del Mar Avenue, commented on the WalGreen markings in the
parking lot.
Brad Johnson stated that the owner/developer puts up signage and markings.
Mr. Nunez stated that on San Gabriel Boulevard making a left when the left turn
pocket is full, going westbound on Garvey, you can't make a turn. Traffic backs
up.
Bill Crowe stated that the City has not signed off on the finals for the project and
will meet with Sheriffs Department and City Engineer.
Julie Gentry, 8900 block of Nevada, stated that the seafood restaurant at 3939
Rosemead Boulevard has inadequate parking since opening in 2002. Needs
restricted parking on Nevada.
Mayor Clark stated that the Traffic Engineer will look into the issue and explore
all options and make sure that it would be corrected.

A. RESOLUTION NO. 2005-02 - CLAIMS AND DEMANDS
The following Resolution was presented to the Council for Adoption.

THE SUM OF $1,140,061.14 NUMBERED 47929 THROUGH 48089
MOTION BY MAYOR PRO TEM IMPERIAL, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN
ALARCON, that the Council adopt Resolution No. 2005-02 with corrections. Voted
resulted:

VII. MATTERS FROM OFFICIALS
Councilman Taylor wanted to know when the store across the street from City
Hall would open?
Brad Johnson stated that about the 16`h or 17`h of this month. Waiting for Health
Department for final inspection.
Mayor Pro Tern Imperial stated that there was concerns regarding the market,
mainly seniors - they want American type market. He also stated that there was a
petition out there regarding this.

VIII. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE
Councilman Vasquez wished to have the meeting adjourned in the memory of
Sheriff's Deputy James Totutino who died as the result of the Metro train
accident.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further action to be taken at this time, the meeting was adjourned.
The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at 8:00
p.m.
