ROSEMEAD PROHIBITING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ANY

FOR THE SALE OR USED, SALVAGED,,:SURPLUS, DISTRESSED
OR. ANTIQUE MERCHANDISE AND EXTENDING,ORDI:NANCE NO.
246 FOR ONE YEAR;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAO.DOES HEREBY.ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1, Ordinance No.,246 of the City of Rosemead,
entitled "AN ORDAIN NCE OF,T'HE CITY OF ROSEMEAD PROHIBITING THE
ESTABLISHMENT ,OF ANY BUSINESS, OR-THE USE OF ANY PREMISES IN ANY
ZONES FOR THE SALE OF USED,, SALVAGED, SURPLUS, DISTRESSED OR ANTIQUE
MERCHANDISEO,is Meireby readopted and extended in full force and
effect for a term of one year, expiring January 14, 1970. In order
to provide for.s:uch extension,, said ordinance shall read as.follows:
"Section 1. Notwithstandi"ng any other provision of the
Rosemead Municipal ode; no occupancy permit, conditional, use permit,
variance oi' building' permit shall be issued or granted for the,
establishment of any business, or.. the..utilization'of property in
any zone; for the merchandising of,distressed used, salvaged,
surplus or antique goods, furniture; appliances; equipment or
• merchandisef unless such items shall have been taken in trade on
sales of new goods, furniture, appliances, eiuipment or merchandise
on new sales made at the same location
Section.2. The City Coudcil and, the Planning Commission
of the City oosemeed is presently undertaking studies to develop
regulations'for,the control of 6usiness.actlvities"and land uses
of the activities described above: Pending the completion of such
studies and in order to prevent the development of properties in a
manner Incompatible with zoning classifications and regulations
which may be proposed, it is necessary and desirable that no further,
business enterprises engaged in the selling of used, distressed,
salvaged surplus or antique merchandise be established. This
ordinance is therefore declared to be an interim zoning ordinance
necessary for the protection of the health, safety and welfare of
the City of Rosemead, and shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption. This ordinance shall be effective for a period of one
• year from the date of its adoption.
