ORDINANCE NO., 249
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD CHANGING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF
THE FIRE CODE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD AND
AMENDING THE ROSEMEAD MUNICIPAL CODE+
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 3114 is added to the Rosemead Municioal Code to
read:
3114 Amendment of Fire Prevention Code. Ordinance No;
2947 of the County of Los Angeles, as amended through
June 1, 1966, is hereby amended as follows:
(A) By amending Section 33.01 to read:
Sec. 33.01. SCOPE. The provisions of this Article
shall apply to any motion picture film.
(B) By amending Section 33.02 to read:
Sec. 33.02. PERMIT REQUIRED. No person shall operate
a motion picture projection machine in any insti-
tutuional occupancy or place of public assembly
without a permit. The requirement of this sec-
tion shall not apply to showings of films by
governmental, charitable, religious, fraternal
or nonprofit organizations, providing that in
the case of nongovernmental orgainzations,
films are shown not more frequently than once
per month.
(C) By amending Section 33.04 to read:
Sec. 33.04. PROJECTION BOOTH REQUIRED,
(a) Any institutional occupancy or place of
public assembly in which films are shown
wherein the operator of a motion picture
projection machine is required to have a
permit for the operation of such machine
under Section 33.02 herein, shall be pro-
vided with a projection booth meeting the
requirements of this section, and any motion
picture projection machine used on such
premises shall be operated only from within
such projection booth.
(b) Projection booths shall be constructed of
noncombustible material and shall be wholly
enclosed. No combustible material of any
sort shall be permitted within the projec-
tion booth except tables of wood construc-
tion with no dimensions less than 1-1/2
inch thick.
(c) Two openings for each motion picture pro--
jector shall be provided; one for the pro-
jectionist's view and the other through
which the picture is projected.
(d) Projection booth doors shall open outwardly
and shall not be equipped with a latch of
any kind. Doors shall be kept in a com-
pletely closed position at all times except
when being used for ingress or egress.
(e) No persons shall use or permit the use of
film which is worn or damaged to such an
extent as to create a fire hazard.
(f) No person shall smoke or permit any person
to smoke in a projection booth. "No Smoking"
signs shall be posted and maintained in
every projection booth.
(D) By amending Section 1.57 Public Assembly to read:
Sec. 1.57. PUBLIC ASSEMBLY, shall mean any building,
structure, tent, theater, dance hall, skating
rink, auditorium,. assembly hall, meeting hall,
night club, tavern, bar, church or similar place
of assembly where twenty (20) or more persons
may gather together for the purpose of instruc-
tion, education, entertainment or other purposes
of similar natures.
