CITY OF ROSEMEAD
ORDINANCE NO. 246
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD PROHIBITING
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ANY BUSINESS, OR THE USE OF
ANY PREMISES IN ANY ZONE, FOR THE SALE OF USED,
SALVAGED, SURPLUS, DISTRESSED OR ANTIQUE MERCHANDISE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of the
Rosemead Mu-n-7 a =ode, no occupancy permit, conditional use permit,
variance or building permit shall be issued or granted for the
establishment of any business, or the utilization of property in any
zone, for the merchandising fo distressed, used, salvaged, surplus
or antique goods, furniture, appliances, equipment or merchandise,
unless such items shall have been taken in trade on sales of new
goods, furniture, appliances, equipment or merchandise on new sales
made at the same location.
Section 2. The City Council and the Planning Commission
of the City o~iFosemead will shortly undertake studies to develop
regulation for the control of business activities and land uses of
the activities described in Section 1, hereof. Pending the comple-
tion of such studies and in order to prevent the development of
properties in a manner incompatible with zoning classifications and
regulations which may be proposed, it is necessary and desirable
that no further business enterprises engaged in the selling of used,
distressed, salvaged surplus or antique merchandise be established.
This ordinance is therefore declared to be an interim zoning
ordinance necessary for the protection of the health, safety and
welfare of the City of Rosemead, and shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption. This ordinance shall be effective for a period
of ninety (90) days from the date of its adoption.
