ORDINANCE NO. 243
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD REGULATING
MOTELS AND AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 9102.37 of the Municipal Code of
the City o oi-Tt s_e_mea is amended to read:
9102.37 Motel One or more buildings containing guest
rooms or dwelling units designed and used for
rental on a daily or other short-term tenancy
of less than a month-to-month tenancy, for the
temporary use by automobile tourists or transients,
and where all utility services to guest rooms or
dwelling units are provided through master meters,
with no individual metering of utility services to
suchrooms or units, and with garages or parking
spaces conveniently located to each roan or unit.
Motel includes auto courts, motor lodges and
tourist courts.
• ' Section 2. Section 9109.1-A-17 is hereby deleted from
the Rosemea unicipal Code.
Section 3. Section 9111.1-B-24 of the Rosemead Municipal
Code is amended to read:
24. Motels, subject to the following conditions:
a. Every motel shall obtain and keep
records of the name and address of
tenants, the make, year and license
of the tenant's vehicle, and the
state in which such vehicle is
licensed.
• b. Every motel shall have an office with
a registration desk, and the office
shall be located in close proximity to
the entry driveway to the street front.
c. No motel shall have provision for cook-
ing or kitchen facilities in more than
twenty-five percent (25%) of its rooms
or units.
Section 4. Section 9111.1-B-20 of the Rosemead Municipal
Code is am_e_nZ_eB
20. a. Hospitals or sanitariums (except
clinics, hospitals or sanitariums
for the treatment of contagious
diseases, mental illnesses or drug
or liqor addiction cases, and animal
hospitals.)

Section 5. Section 9122.3 of the Rosemead Municipal
Code is amen eT to-read:
9122.3 Auto Courts, Tourist Courts and Motels. Each living
or sleeping unit in a mote shall e provided with
one (1) parking space, open or covered, conveniently
located in close proximity to the unit served. There
shall be not less than four (4) additional parking
spaces provided off the driveway near the street
front, in close proximity to the motel office for
registration purposes. There shall be one additional
guest parking space provided for each ten (10) units,
or fraction thereof, of the total number of units in
the motel.
Not less than five percent (5%) of the outdoor area
devoted to parking and driveway shall be developed
with landscaping in accordance with a development-
plan indicating the buildings, parking and land-
scaping, a portion of which may be located along
the street front of the motel. Such development
plan shall be subject to the approval of the
Planning Director.
