RE: AUTHORIZATION TO ATTEND 19TH ANNUAL ASIAN ORGANIZED
CRIME CONFERENCE, APRIL 21-25, 1997, ORLANDO FLORIDA
Attached for your consideration is information regarding the aforementioned conference. Staff is
recommending sending Rosemead Team Asian Gang Investigators Manny Valenzuela and Jose
Zarate and Mayor Imperial, who have attended past conferences. Topics include Cross-Cultural
Communication, Police\Asian Community Programs,Home Invasion Robberies, Illicit Gambling .
Operations, Human Commodity Trafficking, and Immigration Schemes. There are sufficient
funds available for this conference in the Vehicle Impound Account.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Rosemead City Council authorize the attendance of Asian Gang
Investigators Valenzuela and Zarate and Mayor Imperial and appropriate the necessary funds.
