CC - 2000-30 - Supporting the Development of the Eaton Village Shopping CenterU RESOLUTION 2000-30 `J A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EATON VILLAGE SHOPPING CENTER JOINTLY WITH THE CITY OF EL MONTE WHEREAS, the City Councils of Rosemead and El Monte met jointly at a adjourned meeting on May 30, 2000; and WHEREAS, developer Robert McCoy made a presentation to both public bodies regarding a development known as "Eaton Village"; and WHEREAS, said project will encompass approximately 28 acres and include some 700,000 square feet of retail space; and WHEREAS, said project will include a 65,000 square foot supermarket; and WHEREAS, approximately 70% of the parcels necessary for said project are either in escrow, have signed contracts for purchase or in negotiations; WHEREAS, the City Councils of both cities support the development of a neighborhood village shopping/entertainment center on Valley Boulevard between Temple City Boulevard and Rowland Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City Council of both cities support the concept of the proposed entitlement time line presented at the May 30, 2000 joint council meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of The City of Rosemead directs staff to take those steps necessary to assisting the developer in making "Eaton Village" a reality; and be it further resolved that Rosemead's city staff is directed to work with the city staff of El Monte to make this project a reality for both cities.
