AQUATICS
The Rosemead Rapids Swim Team practices Monday through Friday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
and Saturdays from 8:00 am - 10:00 am. The swim team has a total of 118 participants for the
month of October, which is an increase of 11 participants from the previous month.
FACILITIES/PARKS
Garvey Community Center- The fall session of youth and adult classes are almost coming to an

end. We are now into our 7 week of classes with the session ending the week of November
th
8th. Senior Bingo was held on Wednesday, October 6 with participants receiving 4 bingo
cards, a light Halloween themed snack and beverage along with a decorative Halloween bag of
candy. The bingo winners received a $5 gift card to one of the following locations: Starbucks,
-N -Out or big coverall winner received a $20 gift card to
Target.

Senior Crafts were held on Monday, October 11, with 30 seniors in attendance. Each senior
made a Scarecrow Mason Jar and a decorative mini-Halloween gift box to take home. The

Senior Halloween Social was held on Thursday, October 28from 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Upon
entering the banquet room, each senior will receive a festive bag of Halloween goodies.
Participants will enjoy a delightful lunch with entertainment provided by Bobby Z. The seniors
will be able to mingle and dance to spooktacular music. There will be a costume contest in the
categories of cutest, scariest, and most creative costume. The lucky winners will receive a $10
gift card.
The Garvey Community Center continues to receive food boxes from the L.A. Food Bank. Our

next food box distribution will take place on Monday, November 1 from 9 a.m. 1p.m.
Rosemead Community Recreation Center - Wealth by Health has continued to provide
vaccinations at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center. They have been offering Pfizer
and Moderna vaccines as well as flu shots. The remaining dates for the vaccines are November

14 and December 5. The hours of operation will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with no
appointment needed. Vaccinations are open to the public.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Fall Fiesta/Día de los Muertos The return of the Fall Fiesta Event was a huge success! The
event was held on October 9 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at Rosemead Park and included live
entertainment, food vendors, merchant vendors, laser tag, rock wall, jumpers, and plenty of
other activities for families to enjoy. We had an amazing turnout, and it was nice to see families
enjoy our in-person events again!
Pumpkin Dive The City of Rosemead had its very first Pumpkin Dive which was held on
Saturday October 16, 2021, with 71 children in attendance. The Rosemead Aquatic Center had
150 pumpkins floating in its shallow end which was a sight to see. Kids had a blast picking out
their perfect pumpkin to decorate and had the opportunity to play some carnival games and
participate in some fun group activities. There were also raffles for a chance to win Private
lessons and goodie bags. The aquatic staff are excited to bring back this event next year with
some new and fun activities planned.
Pumpkin Patch Rosemead had its first Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, October 23 in partnership
with CultivaLA. The event took place at the 2nd Community Garden from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Pumpkin Patch was well received by participants who had a chance to pick their own
pumpkin, pick up decorating along with treats and goodies such as candy apples and a slice of
pie. Attendees were required to register beforehand, and the event time slots filled up within a
few days. Families left with pumpkins, goodies, and lots of great pictures.
Trunk or Treat The recreation staff is ready for spooky good time on Saturday, October 30
from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Rosemead Community Center. The Trunk or Treat event will have
27 community organizations participating and handing out candy. Children will walk from car to
car to pick up goodies and treat. The evening will also include carnival games, an outdoor
movie, arts & crafts, a costume contest, a maze, and a photo op area. There will be costume
contest categories are for children and dogs. The Parks Commission will have a chance to judge
the costume contest.
Letters to Santa Starting November 29, boys and girls will have a chance to send in or drop off
their letters for Santa. The Parks and Recreation Department will deliver letters to Santa to
ensure children can share their wishes with St. Nick for the holidays. Letters must be received
between November 29 and December 15. Santas responses will be delivered by Wednesday,
December 23.
Christmas Tree Lighting and Treats with Santa The Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on
Tuesday, December 7 at 6:00 pm in the Civic Center Plaza. Thereafter, attendees can head to
the Rosemead Community Center for Treats with Santa where they will enjoy some tasty treats

with Jolly Ol St. Nick. Previously, this was Dinner with Santa; however, the event was modified
due to COVID. The evening will also feature train, arts & crafts, snow slides and photo op with
Santa.
Holiday Scavenger Hunt Reindeer, elves, Santa and more! Celebrate the holidays by going on
a scavenger hunt around the City of Rosemead to find your favorite holiday blow-ups. On the
hunt, you will find hints to solve a puzzle for a chance to win great prizes.
Santa Claus is Coming to Rosemead Santa is planning his route and it includes Rosemead! Be
on the lookout in your neighborhood for Santas sleigh. More information on Santas route and
schedule will be posted to the city website as well as social media. Dont forget to follow us on
social media for the latest updates!
ADULT/YOUTH PROGRAMS AND SPORTS
Youth Golf Group Lessons The Fall 2021 Youth Golf Lessons kicked off its fall session on
September 25 with a total of 30 participants. Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays at
Whittier Narrows Golf Course.
Youth Tennis Group Lessons Youth Tennis Group Lesson completed their first Session for the

fall with a total of 14 participants. The 2 session began on October 12 with a total of 8
participants. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5:00-9:00 pm at the Garvey
Park Tennis Courts.
