RESOLUTION NO. 60 - 79
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING THE ESTABLISH-
MENT OF THE PROPOSED REGIONAL LIBRARY IN
THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the branch library presently maintained by
the County of Los Angeles within the City of Rosemead is
inadequate to provide the library service needed in the City
and is scheduled for replacement by the County of Los Angeles,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead contracts with the
County of Los Angeles for all services available to contract
cities and maintains a close working relationship with the
County of Los Angeles, and
WHEREAS, other cities in the vicini
Rosemead have the benefit of various county
offices and service facilities, including a
the regional office of the County Engineer,
fire stations, a municipal court branch and

other facilities,
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the County of Los
Angeles, the City of Rosemead and in the public interest for
county buildings, branch offices and establishments to be
located in various cities and so dispersed as to provide the
maximum public service, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Real Estate Management of
the County of Los Angeles was authorized in March of 1960 to
purchase a site in the City of Rosemead for the construction
and establishment of a proposed regional library, and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead has approved the proposed
site as well as other sites which may be considered as alter-
natives, and will give its full cooperation and encouragement
to the development and maintenance of the proposed regional
library,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Rosemead urges the Board of Supervisors of Los
Angeles County to establish the proposed regional library for
the West San Gabriel Valley in the City of Rosemead;
RESOLVED FURTHER that copies of this resolution be
certified by the City Clerk and transmitted to Frank G. Bonnelli,
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and Supervisor from the
First District, to the Los Angeles County Librarian, to the
Department of Real Estate Management and all other public
agencies and bodies concerned.
