RESOLUTION N0. 60-82.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD ESTABLISHING POLIO AND
TETANUS INOCULATION DAY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES RESOLVE AS i
FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS; The 8,000 members of the Los Angeles County
Medical Association have the responsibility for protecting
the people of this area from the ravages of illness, injury,
and infectious diseases; and
WHEREAS; The incidence of Polio during 1960 reached a
point 50 per cent above that of 1959, and
WHEREAS; Tetanus continues to be a threat to life
with a fatality rate of more than 60 per cent, and
WHEREAS; It is necessary, in both diseases, to com-
plete the full series of three inoculations before protection
is complete, and
WHEREAS; Full protection must be obtained prior to
the opening of the polio season in the Spring, and
WHEREAS; The Independent Order of Foresters, San
Gabriel Valley Court #887, and its ten thousand members have
joined together with the Medical Association to offer protec-
tion to San Gabriel Valley residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Rosemead, that Sunday, December 4, 1960, is POL,10 AND
TETANUS INOCULATION DAY and that the Council urges the resi-
dents of this City to obtain full protection in order to avoid
the ravages of these two diseases.
