A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING A TRAFFIC CONTROL
SIGNAL AT IVAR AVENUE AND VALLEY BOULEVARD
IN THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
WHEREAS, a large number of pedestrians attempt to
cross Valley Boulevard at its intersection with Ivar Avenue,
and
WHEREAS, the Muscatel Elementary School is located
approximately one-half block from said intersection and large
numbers.of school children attending said school attempt to
cross at said intersection, and
WHEREAS, the heavy movement of traffic in said
intersection has become extremely hazardous to the lives of
the children and other pedestrians attempting to use said
intersection, and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary for the City of
Rosemead to provide a school crossing guard at said intersection
in`an effort to protect said children and such measure is in-
adequate to provide for the safety of the children and pedes.

WHEREAS, the Rosemead Elementary School District,
the Parent Teachers Association, the Rosemead Chamber of
Commerce and other civic bodies have requested that a two-way
traffic control signal be installed at said intersection and
the Traffic Commission of the City of Rosemead, after study of
traffic movement in said intersection, has recommended that
such signal be installed,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. That the State Division of Highways is
hereby requested--a-nU urged to install a two-way traffic signal
device at the intersection of Ivar Avenue and Valley Boulevard
in the City of Rosemead.
Section 2. That certified copies of this resolution
be forwarde to the State Division of Highways, to Montivel
Burke, Assemblyman from the Fifty Third Assembly District,
and to Richard Richards, State Senator from Los Angeles County.
