RESOLUTION NO. 19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD PROCLAIMING COMMUNITY
HEALTH WEEK.
WHEREAS: The Community Health Association, whose
Medical Director is Dr. Ruth J. Temple, of the Los Angeles
City Health Department, has proposed that the week of March
19th through 25th, 1961 inclusive, be devoted to preventing
disease and promoting health, and said Association has
enlisted the cooperation of the Los Angeles County and City
Health Departments, Los Angeles County and City Schools,
the Los Angeles County Medical Association, and numerous
other Volunteer Health and Welfare Organizations; and
WHEREAS: The incidence of Polio during 1960 reached
a point 50 per cent above that of 1959; and
WHEREAS: Tetanus continues to be a threat to life
with a fatality rate of more than 60 per cent; and
WHEREAS: It is necessary, in both diseases, to
complete the full series of three inoculations before pro-
tection is complete; and
WHEREAS: The Independent Order of Foresters, San
Gabriel Valley Court #887, and it's ten thousand members,
have joined together with the Los Angeles County Medical
Association in support of Community Health Week to offer
protection to San Gabriel Valley Area and Pomona Valley
Area Residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Rosemead, hereby proclaims that the week of March 19th
through March 25th 1961, inclusive, is Community Health
Week, and Sunday, March 19th, Polio and Tetanus inoculation
Day, and that I urge the residents of this city to obtain
full protection in order to avoid the ravages of these
two diseases.

of Rosemead this 14th day of March, 1961.
