CC - 1961 - 52 - CA Highway Patrol to Continue Traffic Enforcement Services9 RESOLUTION NO; 61-52 A RESOLUTION OF THE.CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL TO CONTINUE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT SERVICES THE CITY COUNCIL OF, THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS; the Department of California Highway Patrol has provided traffic enforcement services on the streets and highways within the City of Rosemead from the incorporation of the City to date hereof and is presently providing such traffic enforcement services, and WHEREAS;.Said Department of California Highway Patrol by letter dated July 11, 1961 has advised the City of Rosemead of its intention to terminate such traffic enforcement service on or before September 1, 1961 due to the fact that general law enforcement services are provided within the City by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and WHEREAS, the general law enforcement services provided by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department do not include traffic enforcement services and the services so furnished by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in no way conflict with the traffic enforcement services furnished by the Department of California Highway Patrol, and WHEREAS, 'the budget of the City of Rosemead for the fiscal year 1961-62 had already been adopted prior to the receipt of said communication from the Department of California Highway Patrol and said budget was prepared and approved on the premise that the Department of California Highway Patrol would continue to provide traffic enforcement services throughout the fiscal year, and WHEREAS, the traffic enforcement provided by the Department of California Highway Patrol has been and is reliable, effective, efficient and a credit to the City of Rosemead and to the State of California and has been and is highly satisfactory to the City of Rosemead, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of California Highway Patrol be, and it hereby is, requested to continue providing traffic enforcement service on the streets and highways of the City of Rosemead, and in any event that such service be continued until the end of the current fiscal year expiring June 30, 1962. RESOLVED FURTHER that a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to Bradford M. Crittenden, Commissioner of the Department of California Highway Patrol and that copies thereof be forwarded to Governor Edmund G. Brown, Senator Richard Richards and Assemblyman Montival A. Burke. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of August, 1961. ATTEST: CITY CLERK
