RESOLUTION OF THE CITY.000NCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD ENDORSING THE BOY SCOUTS PRE-CHRISTMAS
CLOTHING COLLECTION PROGRAM AND DECLARING
DECEMBER 2, 1961 TO BE GOOD TURN DAY
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of Rosemead traditionally
work together for the good of their communities, and
WHEREAS„ each year since 1950, Cubs, Scouts and
Explorers have joined forces in the pre-Christmas period
to collect clothing in their respective neighborhoods
for the Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, the St.
Vincent de Paul Society and the Volunteers of America,
and thus more than 1,000 physically handicapped persons
have been given employment each year renewing the more
than two million tons of clothing collected over the
years, which goes to the needy, and
WHEREAS, this program, which is conducted nation-
wide, was originated in Southern Califprnia and is now
sponsored by the Good Turn Citizens' Committee, made up
of civic leaders who recognize the value and importance
of helping the physically handicapped help themselves;
.NOW; THEREFORE, THE. CITY COUN<11. OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD DOES RESOLVE A$ F41,LOW5s
Section 1. Saturday, December 2, 1961, is hereby
proclaimed as G D TURN DAY in this city, and all citizens
are urged to help this worthy cause by cooperating with the
Boy Scouts Who call at their homes to collect used clothing
and other commodities.

November, 1961.
