CC - 1970 - 046 - Proclaiming 3rd Day of July As American Heritage Dayi CITY OF ROSEMEAD RESOLUTION NO. 70-46 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD PROCLAIMING THE 3RD DAY OF JULY AS AMERICAN HERITAGE DAY, WHEREAS, all of the citizens of Rosemead, California, and or our great nation would do well to pause and consider the true meaning of our independence as reflected in our past history; and, WHEREAS, with this in mind, the California-Neveda-Hawaii District of Kiwanis International has initiated a campaign to have the third day of July observed as "American Heritage Day," a day when citizens everywhere may meditate upon America's great past and rededicate themselves to the ideals of Americanism; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of Rosemead calls on all of the citizens of Rosemead and of all California to take time out on the third day of July to contemplate our historical heritage and the significance of our independence; NOW, ,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Rosemead, that the third day of July shall be known as American Heritage Day; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Members of the City Council urge all citizens of Rosemead and of California to pause on the third day of July and contemplate the meaning which the Fourth of July-our Independence Day-has for each of us; and, RESOLVED FURTHER that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the public and business affairs committee of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Kiwanis International, PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of June, 1970.
