CITY OF ROSEMEAD
RESOLUTION NO. 70-99
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING THE STATE LEGISLATURE
TO PROVIDE LEGISLATION AUTHORIZING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF POLICE PROTECTION DISTRICTS
IN GENERAL LAW CITIES.
WHEREAS, law enforcement is of concern to all public
officials; and
WHEREAS, at present cities provide law enforcement
services either through their own police departments or through
contractual arrangements with the Sheriff's Department of the
County of Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, this City Council thinks it desirable that
cities be afforded the opportunity to create police protection
districts within their boundaries;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Rosemead does hereby request the Legislature of the State of
California to enact legislation authorizing the establishment
of police protection districts within the boundaries of
general law cities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution
shall be sent to the Honorable Alfred H. Song, California State
Senator; The Honorable Walter J. Karabian, California State
Assemblyman; The Honorable Harvey Johnson, California State
Assemblyman; and to all Contract Cities in Los Angeles County.
