CC - 1959 - 75 - Formation of Water District Upper SG ValleyC RESOLUTION NO.7,5_ 6 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD APPROVING THE FORMATION OF A WATER DISTRICT IN UPPER SAN GABRIEL VALLEY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the supply of water furnished to the cities, communities and industries situated in the Upper San Gabriel Valley is obtained from wells producing in the main San Gabriel Valley Basin, and WHEREAS, the exceptional growth and devlopment experienced in recent years in the Upper San Gabriel Valley has brought about a rising demand for water resulting in a lowering water table and depletion of the supply in the main San Gabriel Valley Basin, and WHEREAS, curtailment of the invaluable water rights of both municipal and private agencies producing in the main San Gabriel Valley Basin may result from legal action filed by downstream users, and WHEREAS, a municipal water district, if formed in the Upper San Gabriel Valley, could seek additional sources of supply, further conserve local storm flows, reclaim waste waters, and restore and maintain a safe water storage level within the said Basin, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD that the proposition for the formation of Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District to be voted upon December 8, 1959, be, and is hereby, approved, and that persons residing within the proposed Water District be urged to support its formation, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a signed copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the office of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Water Association at 9173 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City, California.
