■ Duarte ■ Rosemead ■ South EI Monte ■ Temple City
As shown on the chart, Rosemead crime statistics trend lower than South El Monte but higher than
Temple City and Duarte. while there are many factors that play into crime trends, the Commission
has expressed interest in bringing the crime rates down and is seeking feedback from the
community, LASD, and City station possible recommendations to achieve this goal.
Furthermore, the Commission has also expressed interest in increasing LASDs visibility in the
community. In the recent past, Rosemead has benefited from a community -oriented policing
strategy that focuses on developing relationships with community members, business owners, and
other stakeholders. Although there have been several legal (e.g. AB 109, Prop. 47, and Prop. 57)
and political changes in law enforcement over the past ten years that make policing more
challenging, protecting the community is still the basic function of government and the City and
LASD to develop law enforcement and public safety strategies that meet the current needs and
challenges in Rosemead.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the Commission discuss enhancements to the City's partnership with the
LASD, including options for changes to crime prevention programs, more public outreach, and
community-based policing activities.
