RESOLUTION NO. 62-60
AIRESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD ENDORSING PROPOSITION 23 ON THE
NOVEMBER 6, 1962 BALLOT
WHEREAS, Proposition 23 on the.November 6, 1962
ballot proposes a constitutional amendment for the creation
of ten new senatorial posts to provide additional representa-
tion in the California State Senate for heavily populated
areas; and
1WHEREAS, since the present composition of the
California State Senate was established the State has
experienced a tremendous influx of population largely con-
centratedlin urban areas and particularly in Los Angeles
County; and
WHEREAS, as a result of such influx and concentration
of population Los Angeles County with its six and. one-half
million residents has only one representative in the California
State Senate; and
WHEREAS, the disproportionate representation in the
State Senate has resulted in the inability to obtain legisla-
tion vital to the needs and welfare of Los Angeles County and
has further resulted in a State Senate which is not responsive
to the urgent needs of this metropolitan area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Rosemead hereby expresses its support of
Proposition 23 on the November 6, 1962 ballot as being in the
best interests of the citizens of Rosemead, of the County of
Los Angeles, and of the State of California.
RESOLVED FURTHER that by this Resolution said City
Council does hereby invite the attention of all citizens of
the City of Rosemead to the urgent need 'for the passage of
Proposition 23 and urges them to vote Yes on said Proposition
23 on the November 6, 1962 ballot.
