A RESOLUT IOM OF THE CITY COU C I L OF THE CITY
OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING A TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL
PROVID11G FOR LEFT TURNS Oil ROSEMiEAD BOULEVARD
AT THE INTERSECTION WITH VALLEY BOULEVARD IN
THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD.
WHEREAS, the intersection at Rosemead Boulevard and
Valley Boulevard is presently controlled by a signal, and
WHEREAS, there is presently provided pocket storage for
left turns on Rosemead Boulevard at its intersection with Valley
Boulevard at both the north and south approaches to said inter-
section, and
WHEREAS, the heavy movement of traffic in said intersection
has caused vehiclesgdesiring to turn left to back up out of the
left turn pocket when approaching from both the north and south,
and
WHEREAS, the heavy movement of traffic in said intersection
has caused extreme congestion due to the fact that traffic desir-
ing to turn left coming from both directions cannot flow freely
through said intersection, and
WHEREAS, the City Officials of the City of Rosemead have
-onducted an investigation covering the traffic congestion problem
at the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Valley Boulevard, and
WHEREAS, the Rosemead Traffic and Safety Commission has
recommended left turn signalization at this intersection, and
WHEREAS, Rosemead Boulevard at Valley Boulevard is a
State Highway under the control of the State Division of Highways,
and
WHEREAS, all of the intersections both north and south of
Valley Boulevard on Rosemead Boulevard for a distance of approxi-
mately five (5) miles have signals providing for a left turn, and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead desires a left turn signal
to be installed at the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and
Valley Boulevard for traffic proceeding in both a northerly and
southerly direction on Rosemead Boulevard to alleviate the traffic
congestion at said intersection, and
WHEREAS, recent raised channelization
by the State Division of Highways on Rosemead
north approach to Valley Boulevard along with
channelization on Rosemead Boulevard at the s,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COU0CIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMiEAD
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS' :
Section 1. That the State Division of Highways is hereby
requested and urged to install forthwith a three phase traffic
signal device at the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Valley
Boulevard in the City of Rosemead in order to permit traffic
travelling in a northerly and southerly direction on Rosemead
Boulevard to make uninterrupted left turns.
