SUMMARY This item is to provide the Parks Commission with a summer events preview.
DISCUSSION The Parks and Recreation Department is excited to provide a full summer of events programs for the residents of Rosemead.
Events: State of the City: Rosemead welcomes community members, partner organizations, and businesses to join the State of the City Address as we celebrate Rosemead’s accomplishments during the past year and preview upcoming events and citywide projects. The event will feature
food trucks, youth activities, a chance to speak with partner organizations, the development community, and a keynote State of the City Address. The event will take place on Friday, June 23 at 6:00 pm in the Civic Center Plaza next to City Hall. 4th of July Parade and Carnival: The City of Rosemead will celebrate Independence Day on
Tuesday, July 4. A full-day event that is not to be missed, the 4th of July event will include a parade, carnival, live entertainment, and end with a fireworks display. Food trucks and vendors will have an array of food for all palates. Currently, applications for the parade and vendor booths are being accepted. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Heroes in Our Community.”

• 10:00 am – Parade along Valley Blvd.
• 12:00 – 10:00 pm – Carnival at Rosemead Park including rides, games, and food
• 12:00 – 3:30 pm – Community performers and family activities in Rosemead Park
• 4:00 pm – Dog Parade and Costume Contest
• 5:00 pm – Opening Ceremonies
• 6:00 – 8:00 pm – Detroit Nights performs

• 8:45 pm (Dusk) - Fireworks Concerts in the Park: The summer concert series is scheduled to take place at the Jess Gonzalez Sports Complex and Rosemead Park each Friday starting in July. The series will last
six weeks and will alternate between the two locations. Each concert will begin at 7:00 pm.
• Friday, July 14: Stranger Day, a Doors tribute band, will perform at the Jess Gonzalez Sports Complex, at 7:00 pm.
• Friday, July 21: Fly Guy Band, a 90’s band, will perform at the Jess Gonzalez Sports Complex at 7:00 pm.
• Friday, July 28: Suave Band, an R&B, funk, & Latin band, will perform at Rosemead
Park at 7:00 pm.
• Friday, August 4: Hard Day’s Night, a Beatles tribute band, will perform at Rosemead Park at 7:00 pm.
• Friday, August 11: Susie Hanson Latin Band, a Latin and pop group, will perform at
Rosemead Park at 7:00 pm.
• Friday, August 18: No Duh, a No Doubt Tribute Band, will perform at Rosemead Park at 7:00 pm. Shark Week Celebration: Celebrate shark week and have a sharkmazing time by relaxing your
fins while watching the movie “Finding Nemo.” The event will take place on July 13 at the Rosemead Aquatic Center. The evening will also feature family-friendly games and activities. The pool will open at 6:00 pm with games and activities until 8:00 pm. The movie will begin at dusk. There is a $1.00 admission fee for children and $2.00 for adults. Parks Make Life Better Event: In celebration of “Parks Make Life Better” month, families are invited to come out and enjoy their local park! This fun-filled event will take place at Rosemead Park on Friday, July 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in conjunction with our summer concert. Park activities will include game booths, raffles, giveaways, treats, and live music. Dive-In Movie: The department will be offering a relaxing night by the pool for the entire family at the Rosemead Aquatic Center on August 3. There will be a $1.00 admission fee for children and $2.00 for adults. Snacks will be available for purchase. The pool will open at 6:00 pm and the movie will begin at dusk. National Night Out: Rosemead will celebrate National Night Out on Friday, August 4. Join us for crime prevention, back-to-school resources, emergency preparedness resources, food, music, and fun. The event will take place at Rosemead Park in conjunction with our summer concert from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
