RESOLUTION NO. 64-34
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSFAEAD, CALIFORNIA, RE AID TO
ALASKAN CITIES.
WHEREAS, the city government and the citizens of the City of Rosemead
have been apprized of the terrible suffering imposed upon the citizens of the
State of Alaska and its cities by the recent earthquake disaster; and
* EREAS, we have been advised particulary of damages sustained by the
municipalities of Seward, Valdez, Kodiak and Anchorage, where in some cases the
treble disaster of `earthquake, tidal waves and conflagration devastated the
community; and
WHEREAS, such Alaskan cities will be facing almost insurmountable
problems of rehibilitation and reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, officials of the City of Fairbanks, Alaska, have contacted
the League of California Cities and have requested financial assistance on behalf
of disaster areas by way of contributions to a recently established Alaska Earth-
quake Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that this City Council does formally
express its concern and interest for the welfare of the victims of this Alaskan
earthquake disaster and does call upon and urge the citizens of Rosemead, Calif-
ornia, to extend a helping hand to these Alaskan cities by generously contributing
monies to the ALASKAN EARTHQUAKE FUND, P. 0. Box 1271, Fairbanks, Alaska.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 12th day of May, 1964.
