CITY OF ROSEMEAD
RESOLUTION NO. 65-24
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD RE ADOPTION OF SOUTH
VIETNAMESE GEAR ORPHANS.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention
of the iosemead City Council that i4r. and Mrs. Philip
Rockstroh of Northridge, California., have been prevented
from completing the adoption of two deserving South
Vietnamese war orphans by certain legal entanglements; and
WHERFJiS, these two children, Minh Son, age 10,
and Kim Phuong, age , have been befriended and cared for in
South Vietnam by the Rockstroh`s son, Dennis J. Rockstroh,
an American soldier statione_' in Vietnam and the recipient
of the Army Commendation Medal for valor; and
VHEREAS, it appears that Federal laws and regula-,
tions preventing this immediate adoption have no sound basis
for application in this instance;
N04Y, THEREFO.E, BE IT 9ESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of -Rosemead that earnest efforts be made by
all proper authorities having jurisdiction in this matter
to remove all legal impediments to the early completion of
these adoption proceedings, and this City Council does urge
support for such legislation as may be introduced by
Congressman James Corman of California to enable this
adoption to proceed.
BE IT FURT'HE. RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the
City of ::,osemead is directed to forward copies of this
resolution to the press, the Governor of the State of
California., the members of the California State Assembly
representing this area, State Senator Thomas 'Rees, and
the members of the United States House of Representatives
representing the Rosemead area.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 23rd day of
March, 1965.
