A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR'S
APPROVAL OF ASSEMBLY BILL 1615.
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 1615 has
the Assembly and Senate of the California
WHEREAS, the provisions of AB 1
general law city to levy a tax of 2-cents
cigarettes and to contract with the State
and administration of such taxj I and

WHEREAS, cities and couhti.es in.the State of
California are vitally in need of additional revenue from
sources other than real property tax levies; and
WHEREAS, State administration and collection of
this proposed cigarette tax, similar to existing procedures
with reference to local sales taxes, will provide for an
efficient, uniform and inexpensive collection of this tax;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Rosemead does hereby support Assembly Bill 1615
and does respectfully urge the Governor of the State of
California to approve such legislation at an early date.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the
City of Rosemead is directed and authorized to forward a
certified copy of this resolution to Governor Edmund G. Brown
and to the League of California Cities.
