CC - 1965 - 68 - Annexation No. 284 • RESOLUTION NO. 65-68 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA; CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 16th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1965, PERTAIN- ING TO THE ANitiE",ATION OF TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION N0: 28" TO THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 65-61, the City Council of the City of Rosemead declared its intention to call a special elec- tion to be held in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said city proposed to be annexed to the city, for the purpose of sub- mitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not the territory shall be annexed to the city; and WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution was published as required by law; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk did cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be mailed to each owner of an equitable or legal interest in land within the territory to be annexed who has filed his name and address and a general description of such land, sufficient to identify it on the last Equalized County Assessment Roll, with said Clerk; and WHEREAS, a public hearing to hear protests of owners was held on September 14, 1965, and WHEREAS, at said public hearing objections to the proposed annexation were not made by public and private owners equal to one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed, and WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said resolution and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto hereby being made for further particulars; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That a special election is hereby called to be held on t e T67 -day of November, 1965, in the territory hereinafter described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and proposed to be annexed to the City of Rosemead, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not such territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of said City of Rosemead. Section 2. The polls at said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'c ocl A.M. of the day herein fixed for the holding of said election and shall be kept open until 7:00 o.'clock P.M. of the same day, when the polls shall be closed. Section 3. The City Council does hereby designate the name "Annexation No. 28" by which the territory may be indicated upon the election ballots. Said name is the same as the name given in the resolution of intention to call a special election. 0 10 Section 4. Upon the ballots to be.used at said election there shaT1 be printed the words: Shall "Annexation No..28" be annexed to the City of Rosemead: Opposite these words there shall be printed the words "YES" and "pi0", and to the right of each of these last two words there shall be a voting :square. If an elector shall stamp a cross in the voting square after the printed word "YES" the vote of such elector shall be counted in.favor of the annexation of said territory to the City of Rosemead; and if an elector shall stamp a cross in the voting square after the printed word "NO" the vote of such elector shall be counted against such annexation. In all particulars not herein recited said election shal be held in conformity, as near as may be, with the laws of the State of,California concerning General elections and with sa.id Annexation Act of 1913. Section 5. 'The City, Clerk shall publish a notice of said special a e~ on, as required by the Annexation Act of 1913, at least once a week for the four (4) weeks pei,or:to the date of the election in the San Gabriel Valley Independent; 6;newsgaper of general circulation printed and published outside d$ the Clty of Rosemead but in the County of Los,Angeles California; Said publication shall be made at,least once a week during the weeks commencing on dctober 3, 1965+ PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this loth day of September, 1965. MAYOR OF THE CITY OF RO D ATTEST: I CLERK DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED "ANNEXATION NO. 28" TO THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD All that property in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, bounded and described as follows: Beginning at an angle point in the westerly boundary of the City of Rosemead as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965, and which angle point is in the southerly line of Rush Street, 60 feet wide, as shown on County Surveyor's Map No. B-384, sheet 1, on file in the office of the Engineer of said County and also is the northwesterly corner of Lot 6 of Tract No. 701, as per map recorded in Book 16, pages 110 and 111, of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County; thence southerly along the westerly boundary of the City of Rosemead, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965 and following the various courses of the boundary of the City of Rosemead, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965 to an angle point in the southerly boundary of the City of Rosemead, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965 and.which angle point is in the northerly line of Arroyo Drive, as said Arroyo Drive is shown on County Surveyor's Map No. B-191, sheet 10, on file in the office of the Engineer of said County; thence westerly and northwesterly along the northerly and northeasterly lines of said Arroyo Drive to a straight line which bears South 20°5'+'59" West•and passes through the northwesterly terminus of that certain course raving a bearing and length of South 31°57'25" East 550.89 feet in the north- easterly boundary of Lot 3 of Tract No. 10063 as per map recorded in Book 179, pages 32, 33 and 34 of Maps in the office of said Recorder, (for the purpose of this description said certain course has a bearing of South 3105)'25" East); thence South 20°54'59" West along said straight line to the northerly boundary of the City of Monterey Park, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965; thence westerly along the northerly boundary of the City of Monterey Park, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965, and following the various courses of the boundary of the City of Monterey Park, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965, to an angle point in the northerly boundary of the City of Monterey Park, as said boundary existed on February 14, 1965, and which angle point is in the southeasterly line of Potrero Grande Drive, (formerly known as Mesa Drive) 60 feet wide, as shown on map of said Tract No. 701; thence westerly along a line which is parallel with and distant northerly, 50 feet, measured at right angles, from the southerly line of said Tract No. 701, to the center line of Potrero Grande Drive (formerly known as Mesa Drive) as shown on said County Surveyor's Map No. B-191, sheet 10; thence northeasterly along said center line of Potrero Grande Drive through the following courses and distances: North 60°48'10" E8st 892.17 feet to an angle point in said center line; thence North 63 16'40" East 499.60 feet; thence North 46017'30" East 497.72 feet to the beginning of a tangent curve concave northwesterly and having a radius of 550 feet; thence northeasterly along said curve an arc distance of 201.96 feet to a tangent line; thence along said tangent line North 25°15'10" East to the southeasterly prolongation of the northeasterly line of Lot I of Tract No. 25611 as per map recorded in Book 658, pages 83 and 84, of Maps, in the office of said Recorder; thence northwesterly along said prolongation and said last mentioned northeasterly line and the northwesterly prolongation thereof, to the northwesterly line of the Southern California Edison Company Ltd. Right of Way as said Right of Way is shown on map filed in Book 30, pages 16 through 20, inclusive, of Record of Surveys, in the office of said Recorder; thence northeasterly along said northwesterly line of the Southern California Edison Company Ltd. Right of Way to the most northerly corner of PARCEL 15 as shown on said last mentioned map; thence northeasterly in a direct line to the most westerly corner of PARCEL 16 as shown on said last mentioned map; thence northeasterly along said northwesterly line of the Southern California Edison Company Ltd. Right of Way to the most southerly corner of Lot 1 of Tract No. 8449 as per map recorded in Book 103, page 79 of Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence northeasterly in a direct line through the most east- erly corner of said last mentioned lot to the southerly line of Graves "ANNEXATION NO. 28" ontinued. Avenue, 80 feet wide being also a line parallel with and 40 feet southerly, measured at right angles, from the center line of Graves Avenue (formerly known as Garvey Drive) as shown on said County Surveyor's Map No. B-384, sheet 1; thence easterly along said last mentioned southerly line to the northerly prolongation of the east- erly line of Lot 75 of Tract No. 7123 as per map recorded in Book 82, pages 72 through 74, inclusive, of Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence southerly along said northerly prolongation of the easterly line of Lot 75. and said easterly line and the easterly lines of Lots 74, 73, 72, and 71 of said Tract No. 7123 to the southeasterly corner of said Lot 71; thence southwesterly in a direct line to the most northerly corner of Lot 9 of said Tract No. 701; thence southeasterly in a direct line to the most northerly corner of Lot 7 of said Tract No. 701; thence southeasterly and easterly along the southwesterly and southerly lines of said Rush Street to the point of beginning.
