• RESOLUTION NO. 66-13
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD SUPPORTING AN INITIATIVE MEASURE TO
PROHIBIT OBSCENITY
WHEREAS, during the past several years the dissemination
of obscene matter has increased throughout this and other States,
and
WHEREAS, the indiscriminate dissemination and spread of
such obscene material has an eroding effect on moral standards
generally, and is particularly detrimental to the youth of our
populace, which is so vital to the future of our State and
Nation, and
WHEREAS, an initiative measure is being circulated
declaring the state policy is to prohibit obscene matter and
conduct, providing rules and procedures for prosecuting violators,
making conspiracy to violate obscenity laws a felony, and author-
izing seizure of obscene matter,
NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1. The City Council declares that the continued
disseminatio obscene material is contrary to the public
welfare and best interests of the people of Rosemead and of the
State of California.
Section 2. The City Council hereby expresses its strong
support for tT e aforesaid initiative measure relating to obscenity
and recommends such initiative measure to the electorate for
support, circulation and signature of the petition for such
measure to be placed on the ballot for the adoption of the
"California Law on Obscenity."
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to certify
copies of this resolution and forward same to Assemblymen Song
and Johnson and to the Governor of the State of California.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 8th day of March, 1966.
