A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD ENCOURAGING JACK KENT
COOKE TO LOCATE THE NEW SPORTS ARENA IN
THE WHITTIER NARROWS AREA.
WHEREAS, Jack Kent Cooke is the owner of the Los
Angeles Lakers and the holder of a new franchise for a
professional hockey team in the National Hockey League;
and
WHEREAS, Jack Kent Cooke has expressed a desire
to construct an arena and athletic facility to accomodate
both the professional basketball and professional hockey
teams; and
WHEREAS, the area in the Whittier Narrows section
is ideally suited for the location of this sports facility
because of the availability of land, its access to freeways
and its central location for Los Angeles, Orange and San
Bernardino county residents;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Rosemead does who endorse and
encourage Jack Kent Cooke to locate his sports arena in the
Whittier Narrows area.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution
be forwarded to Jack Kent Cooke, to Los Angeles County
Supervisor Frank Bonelli and the adjoining San Gabriel
Valley cities encouraging them to endorse the location of
the arena in the Whittier Narrows area.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 10th day of
May, 1966.
