CC - 1967 - 027 - State Gasoline Taxes~l i r 9 RESOLUTION NO. 67-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO LEGISLATION TO REVISE THE MAYO=BREED FORMULA FOR THE ALLOCATION OF STATE . GASOLINE TAXES WHEREAS, true State highway needs for Southern California Counties group, based on the urgency of traffic demands and the provision of equal State-wide traffic services, are in excess of 60 percent of the State-wide total; and WHEREAS, the existing critical traffic congestion, accidents and fatalities in the Southern Counties area must be immediately alleviated; and WHEREAS, the future economic and sociological growth and development of the 13 Southern Counties is dependent on the construction of an adequate highway and freeway system; and WHEREAS, based on the pertinent indices of population, vehicle registration, and assessed evaluation, the 13 Southern Counties provide in excess of 60 percent-of the State-wide highway revenue; and WHEREAS, the antiquated Mayo-Breed Formula allocates only 55 percent of the State-wide Highway and Freeway Construc- tion Funds to the South which curtails the budgeting of urgently needed projects and eliminates a program of equitable future facilities in this area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the'City Council of the City of Rosemead, California endorses and supports a legis- lative program to amend the Mayo-Breed Formula to allocate a, minimum of 60 percent of the State Highway Construction Funds to the '13 counties in the Southern group; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to the following: 1. Southern California Regional Association of County Supervisors 2. Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors 3. All cities in Los Angeles County 4, League of.California Cities 5. The Honorable Charles Wiggins, 25th U. S. Congressional District 6. The Honorable George E.,Brown, Jr., 29th U. S. Congressional District 7. The Honorable Alfred H. Song, 28th State Senatorial District 8. The Honorable Walter Karabian, 45th S<.-te Assembly District _ Page 2 9, The Honorable Harvey Johnson, 58th State Assem- bly District; and BE IT,FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of original resolutions of said City; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of_the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
