SUBJECT: 2024 SPRING SPECIAL EVENTS
SUMMARY
This item is to provide the Parks Commission with a list of special events that are scheduled for
this Spring.
DISCUSSION
The Parks and Recreation Department is excited to host a variety of special events this Spring.
These events consist of the following, the Sweetheart Jamboree, Dog Park Event, Easter Dive,
Eggstravaganza, Community Yard Sale, and a 1K/5K Fun Run.
Sweethearts Jamboree - Everyone's favorite event, the Sweethearts Jamboree returns to the
Rosemead Community Recreation Center for a day of fun filled activities. The event will take
place on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The Valentines themed event includes bingo, lunch,
dancing, and a special recognition for all the special sweethearts in attendance. The event will
also include lunch, refreshments and dessert. The event will culminate with a dance for all to
enjoy and partake in. The Bobby Z band will provide musical entertainment with a mix of classic
Latin and top 40 hits. The program is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets for the
event are on sale now at the Garvey Center for $15 per person.
Garvey Paws Park Anniversary Event — The "St. Pawtrick's" Day Celebration will be held on
Saturday, March 16. Guests are asked to bring their 4 legged friends and join us in our NEW St.
Pawtrick's Day Celebration. The event will start at 10:00 am and conclude by 1:00 pm at
Garvey Paws Dog Park. Dogs can also enjoy a sweet treat from Woof It Up Dog Food.
Attendees will be able to dress up your pup and enter our dog costume contest. There will also
be a photo area and various pet friendly vendors.
Easter Dive - Please join us for our Annual Easter Egg Dive on Saturday, March 23 from 12:00
to 2:00 pm. The Rosemead Aquatic Center will be filled with colorful eggs, easy for participants
to jump in the water and collect. This event will also include game booths, arts and crafts, and a

possible bunny sighting. The fun never stops! Participants will have the opportunity to find a
golden egg and get a special prize. Pre -registration is required.
Easter Eggstravaganza - The Annual Easter Eggstravaganza will return to Rosemead on
Saturday, March 30 at Garvey Park. The event will begin with an egg hunt at 10:00 am sharp.
Other activities include, a photo opt with the Easter Bunny, games booths, moon bouncers, food
trucks, and more. Egg Hunt Divisions include; 2 years and under, 3 and 4 years old, 5 and 6
years old, 7 to 10 years old, and 11 to 13 years old. Children with special needs will be included
in the 3 and 4 year old area Reserved parking will be available in the Garvey Park parking lot
off of Emerson Place. If you have any questions, please contact Director of Parks and

Yard Sale - The return of the Annual City -Wide Yard will take place on Saturday, April 13.
The event will take place at the Edison Parking Lot, 2255 Walnut Grove Ave. The sale will
begin at 7:00 am and conclude at 1:30 pm. Bring the whole family and enjoy the great bargains.
Vendor applications are available at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center. Prices are as
followed: $20 one space and $30 two spaces for residents; $30 one space and $45 two spaces for
non—residents.
1K/5K Superhero Fun Run/Walk - Save the date and pick out your favorite Superhero
Costume to join us in our all NEW Superhero Fun Run/Walk event on Saturday, April 27! The
event will begin at Rosemead Park and route through the neighborhood just East of Rosemead
Park. The event will include a 50 -YD Diaper Dash for ages 3-5 years old, 1K Fun Run for ages
6-12 years old and conclude with a 5K Fun Run for participants ages 13+. There will also be a
vendor area for runners to visit.

Staff recommends that the Parks Commission receive the updated information.
FISCAL IMPACT
All events are allocated in the FY 23/24 Budget.
