The City's Military Hero Banner Program was established to honor recognize Rosemead residents and immediate family members, who are activity duty members or veterans of the United States Armed Services. The Rosemead Military Hero Banner Program began accepting applications in 2017. There are 22 participants in the Military Hero Banner Program. All the banners are currently placed on Valley Blvd. Valley Blvd can accommodate up to 50 banners, one per pole. There are five poles that are located on the Garvey Ave bridge. Each pole can hold two banners which would accommodate a total of 20 banners. Banners would need to be hung in two different locations to accommodate the current number of banners. STAFF RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council discuss and provide staff direction. STRATEGIC PLAN IMPACT Meets the Responsive, Inclusive City Goal. The objective of this goal is that Rosemead will continue to provide quality services that are inclusive and responsive to meet the changing needs of our diverse community. FISCAL IMPACT There could be costs associated with hanging the banners on the Garvey Ave bridge. These costs will vary depending on the repairs needed.
