A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD SUPPORTING THE CITY OF EL MONTE'S
POSITION ON THE APPLICATION OF SOUTHERN PACIFIC
RAILROAD COMPANY FOR A TIE-IN TO THE PACIFIC
ELECTRIC TRACKS IN THE CITY OF EL MONTE.
WHEREAS, the Southern Pacific Railroad Company has made
application to the Public Utilities Commission of the State of
California for a permit to build a tie-in to the Pacific Electric
tracks at Cypress and Ramona Streets in the City of El Monte; and
WHEREAS, if a permit to build the proposed tie-in is
granted substantial traffic hazards at six surface street crossings
along this alignment may be created; and
WHEREAS, the proposed tie-in would limit the effective-
ness of the planned three-million-dollar extension of Hoyt Avenue
from Valley Boulevard north, which extension is currently being
undertaken by the City of E1 Monte in cooperation with the County
of Los Angeles,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Rosemead finds that the granting of the application
of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company for a tie-in to the

of E1 Monte would not be in the public interest;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Rosemead supports the position of the City of El Monte in oppos-
ing the grant of said application;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of said resolution
be forwarded to the City of E1 Monte and to the Public Utilities
Commission of the State Gf California.
