CC - 1968 - 005 - Rosemead Postal District• RESOLUTION NO, 68-5 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIROF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT TO INCLUDE ALL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD IN THE ROSE- MEAD POSTAL DISTRICT SO THAT ALL MAIL TO LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD MAY BE PROPERLY ADDRESSED TO ROSEMEAD ADDRESSES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, less than one-half of the territory within the boundaries of the City of Rosemead is within the Rosemead postal district, and over one-half of the territory of the City of Rosemead is within the boundaries of the South San Gabriel postal district, as the boundaries of such districts have been drawn by the United States Post Office Department, and WHEREAS, this situation has resulted in misdirection of mail, delays in the transmission of mail, conflict between telephone and other listing and mailing addresses, and confusion of identity of unincorporated areas once known as South San Gabriel with the incorporated area of the City of Rosemead, and WHEREAS, over 2,850 residents of the City of Rosemead whose homes must be erroneously addressed at present as being in South San Gabriel, have signed petitions requesting that they be made a part of the Rosemead postal district, and WHEREAS, this extremely unsatisfactory, undesirable and unacceptable situation has been repeatedly called to the United States Post Office Department's attention for more than two years without result, N014 THEREFORE; BE-IT RESOLVED, that the existing illogical, undesirable,.and unacceptable situation be emphatically called,to the attention of the United.States Post Office Depart- ment and that said Department be urgently requested to take the appropriate.steps immediately so as to place all of the territory within the City of Rosemead, in the Rosemead postal district so that all mail addressed to Locations within the City of Rosemead may be properly addressed to Rosemead addresses; RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Honorable Thomas H; Kuchel, United States Senator for the State of California, the Honorable George Hurphyj United States Senator for the State of California, the Honorable George E. Brown, Jr., Congressman for the 29th District,.with the request that said United States Senators and Congressman communicate with the United States Post Office Department requesting that action be taken in accordance with this resolution; RESOLVED FURTHER,.that copies of this Resolution be made available to all communications media servicing the City of Rosemead. 1968 PASSED,.APPROVED and ADOPTED this 9th day of January, . ATTEST: MAYOR OF THE CITY F ROSEMEAD T CLERK CITY OF ROSEMEAD RESOLUTION NO. 68-5q A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, CONFIRMING THE STREET SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT AND ASSESSMENTS THEREIN (CHARLOTTE AVENUE, WEST SIDE, GARVEY AVENUE TO PARK STREET). THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. In accordance with Section 5883 of the Government o-C e report of the Street Superintendent with respect to the construction of improvements in the 3000 block of Charlotte Avenue, west side, Garvey Avenue to Park Street and the proposed assessments set forth therein are hereby confirmed. Section 2. In the event that said assessments are not paid wit +n ive days from date hereof, the Street Superintendent is directed to record a notice of lien in the office of the County Recorder and turn over a notice of lien to the tax collector for delivery to the county auditor for entry on the county assessment books opposite the descriptions of the parcels concerned. 1968.
