RESOLUTION NO. 68-23
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD RECOMMENDING THE SELECTION OF THE CITY
OF LOS ANGELES AS THE SITE OF THE 1976 SUMMER
OLYMPICS.
WHEREAS, all of Southern California is desirous of
hosting the 1976 Summer Olympics in the Greater Los Angeles
metropolitan area with all the gracious hospitality for which
Californians are known the world over; and,
WHEREAS, this area is known far and wide for its ideal
climate; and,
WHEREAS, this area is recognized as the "Sports Capital
of the World" and offers the finest athletic facilities of any
community in these United States or abroad; and,
WHEREAS, the business community has the reputation of
supporting athletic endeavors and projects of the fine arts
in a most generous and positive way; and,
WHEREAS, in May of 1968 the United States Olympic
Committee will choose from five cities the American site entry
in the worldwide competition for selection of the 1976 site for
the Summer Games; and,
WHEREAS, the International Olympic Committee is expected
to select the 1976 Summer Olympic Games site within the forthcoming
year; and,
WHEREAS, all governmental and business facets of our
society will wholeheartedly support and promote this prestigious
worldwide event in every proper and positive way:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Rosemead in California invites the amateur athletes
of the world to come to the sunny climes of Southern California
in 1976 for the XX1 Olympiad.
