A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING
LEGISLATION WHICH WOULD PERMIT THE IMPO-
SITION OF ANY AD VALOREM TAX ON CITIZENS
BY ANY REGIONAL GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY WITH-
OUT THE APPROVAL OF THE ELECTORATE.
WHEREAS, the State Legislature is considering legisla-
tion relating to the establishment of regional governmental
agencies with possible authority to establish an ad valorem tax
without the approval of the electorate; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemead opposes any such
legislation because it is contrary to the basic right of the
people;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of
Rosemead, Ca i ornia, opposes legislation which would permit
the imposition of any ad valorem tax by any Regional Governmental
Agency without the approval of the electorate.
Section 2. That the City Clerk shall forward certified
copies o t is resolution to the following:
1. State Senator Alfred H. Song;
2. Assemblyman Harvey Johnson;
3. Assemblyman Walter J. Karabian;
4. Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County;
5. League of California Cities.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 26th day of March,
