CC - 1968 - 048 - Oppose Detriment of ResidentsRESOLUTION N0. 68-4.8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
OPPOSING ANY MUNICIPAL COURT CONSOLI
DATIUN PLAN WHICH ACTS TO THE DETRIMENT
OF THE RESIDENTS OF THIS CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL_OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES RESOLVE:
Section 1. The City Council finds and determines that
numerous proposals for consolidation of the Municipal Courts in
Los Anueles County have been processed through the State Legis-
lature in recent years, and some of said bills are again pending
for consideration.
Section 2. The City Council finds and determines that
it is appro- priate for this City to retain, within the proximity
of its existing facilities, a municipal court readily accessible
to the residents of this community. That any plan that would
call for or make possible the removal of the existing Municipal
Court would serve to the disadvantage of litigants, witnesses,
jurors, lawyers, prosecutors, police and other persons involved.
Section 3. The City Council further finds and deter-
mines that a7 an plan for consolidation which calls for the election
of Municipal judges on a county-wide basis rather than on a local
basis will not serve the best interests of this community.
Section 4. The City Council further finds and determines
that the c acme economies and efficiencies of court consolida-
tion are fairly debatable, and therefore takes no position with
respect thereto, but urges that any consolidation plan recognize
the principles and protections set forth herein.
Section 5. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to all
members oT_t_F(_-State Assembly and Senate representing the City of
Rosemead in the California legislature.
Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Reso ution.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 14th day of May, 1968.
