CC - 1968 - 050 - Honoring Mrs. Robert W Stone• 9 RESOLUTION NO. 68-50 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD HONORING MRS. ROBERT W. STONE. WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of Rosemead, that there is among the citizens of Rosemead one who has over a number of years unselfishly, and with- out fanfare, sought to make the lives of United States servicemen in active duty in the Armed Forces of our Country "a little easier" and the duty tours of such servicement seem "a little shorter"; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Robert W. Stone of 4324 Rio Hondo Avenue, Rosemead, California, has over a number of years, corresponded with members.of the Armed Services, regularly providing them with news from home and a glimpse of home, from which they would other- wise be separated while on active duty; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Robert W. Stone has on holiday occasions and on~the occasions of birthdays.of the servicemen with whom she corresponds, sent to them letters, cards, and has provided them with gifts of bakery items from her kitchen; and WHEREAS, the servicemen with whom Mrs. Robert W. Stone has associated herself have always found her house and heart open to them while home on leave; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemead, on behalf of its citizens, commends Mrs. Robert W. Stone and honors her for her efforts in bringing home a little closer to those members of the United States Armed Forces with whom she has come into contact, and to whom she has given so much of herself. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this commendation of Mrs. Robert W. Stone be permanently recorded upon the records of the City as continuing recognition by this City Council of her achievements. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of this City is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Specialist Fifth- Class Roy W. Bradley, RA 19877875, First Headquarters CPS FFV, APO San Francisco 96350, with a request that Mr. Bradley convey the contents of this Resolution to those members of the Armed Services mentioned in his letter addressed to the Mayor of the City of Rosemead.
