A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF R05EMEAD HONORING CITY CLERK EDYTHE C.
ARMSTRONG ON HER APPOtNTMENT AS UNITED STATES
POSTMASTER, ROSEMEAD POST OFFICE,
WHEREAS, on July 19, 1968, City Clerk Edythe C.
Armstrong assumed,the office of United States Postmaster, Rose-
mead Post Office, upon her appointment to that position by the
President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, upon the
recommendation of Congressman George E. Brown, Congressman for
the 29th District, State of California; and
WHEREAS, since the City of Rosemead became incorporated,
Edythe C. Armstrong has served with distinction in the office of
the City Clerk, first as Deputy City Clerk, and since January 26,
1965, as City Clerk of the City of Rosemead; and
WHEREAS, Edythe C. Armstrong has efficiently, competent-
ly and effectively fulfilled her duties as City Clerk, establish-
ing.a standard for that office as one of the finest in the State
of California; and
WHEREAS, through her wise counsel, generous spirit, and
pervading sensitivity to the problems of the citizens of Rosemead
and of the City, Edythe C. Armstrong has been an unofficial
good will ambassador for the City in its contacts with its
citizens and with other governmental agencies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Rosemead as follows:
Section 1. That this City Council, on the occasion of
Edythe C. Armstrong~s assumption of the office of Postmaster,
warmly congratulates Postmaster Armstrong upon her richly deserved
appointment as postmaster for this community, and commends her
upon an enviable record as City Clerk of the City of Rosemead,
which is in the highest tradition of public service.
Section 2. That this City Council, in behalf of its
members, t T-oT if cers and employees of the City of Rosemead and
its citizens, affirms that we shall miss Edythe's presence within
the official family of the City, as we wish her every success and
happiness in her new endeavors and public service.
