CC - 1969 - 07 - Retention of Naval Undersea Warfare Center6 i CITY OF ROSEMEAD RESOLUTION NO 69 - 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD URGING THE RETENTION OF THE NAVAL UNDERSEA WARFARE CENTER IN THE CITY OF PASADENA WHEREAS, the United States Government has operated the Naval Undersea Warfare Center on Foothill Boulevard in the City of Pasadena for a number of years; and, WHEREAS, the Special Subcommittee on Proposed Undersea Warfare Laboratory of the House Armed Services Committee has recommended in a thorough and comprehensive report that the Naval Undersea Warfare Center should continue to be located in the City of Pasadena, and that the Center's facilities in that City be expanded to provide new buildings and additional operational facilities; and, WHEREAS, the.-relocation of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.from its present location whould work a great hardship on many of the 835 civilian and military personnel living in the San Gabriel Valley, and would further work an economic hardship on many of the firms in the San Gabri-el Valley now contracting with the Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rosemead as follows: 1. That the City Council strongly urges the retention of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at its present location in the City of Pasadena. 2. That copies of this resolution supporting the retention of the Center 'i.n Pasadena be sent to County Supervisors Frank Bonelli, and Ernest Debs, and the members of the State Assembly and Senate and United States Congress representing the citizens of Rosemead. 1969 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this.llth day of February, .
