As the male walked out of the store, Rosemead SAO Deputies detained and arrest the suspect. The suspect initially lied about his identity. Upon further investigation, Rosemead SAO Deputies discovered his true identity and learned he had two outstanding warrants: Felony taking vehicle without owner's consent io851 CVC and misdemeanor for providing a false identity to peace officer 148.9 PC. The suspect was arrested for two warrants. The stolen merchandise was returned to Walmart. OPERATIONS o8-of-2024/ RD oriw-oF�6 Rosemead SAO Deputies conducted a burglary suppression operation. Each Rosemead SAO Deputy drove throughout Rosemead's high crime areas and presented high visibility. Throughout the operation, the station did not receive any calls for service for burglaries, alarm activations and overall calls for service were lowered. SAO team members assisted code enforcement with aiding homeless individuals throughout the city by offering information on shelter services and other outreach programs. SAO team members continuously moved the decoy police vehicle throughout the city of Rosemead. The decoy police vehicle has been strategically placed at various business locations throughout the city to help deter crime. The decoy police vehicle continues to help prevent overnight commercial burglaries. The vehicle has been strategically placed in areas where crime trends are occurring. Deputy Arredondo discussed crime trends, owner's concerns, and answered questions regarding the city and upcoming events. o8-o6-2024 / RD oF�� Rosemead SAO Deputies reached out to the business owner of Brown's Jewelry and Loan (Pawn Shop) regarding recent graffiti on their business wall. The owners were able to provide video surveillance footage. Based on the footage, Rosemead SAO Deputies were able to identify the suspect. Rosemead SAO Deputies notified our OSS (Gangs) detectives of this discovery. This investigation is still on going. o8-o77-2024/ RD 0533 Rosemead SAO Deputies reached out to the business owner of Mattress Station regarding recent graffiti on their business wall. The owner informed us the cameras are not currently operational. However, they will be fixing the cameras soon to help deter acts of graffiti and to assist identifying vandals. OTHER o8-02-2024 / RD o.r,�o Rosemead SAO Deputies provided security at a Summer Concert at Rosemead Park. o8-o7-2024 / RD Rosemead SAO Deputies contacted several homeless residents in the city of Rosemead and offered services through LA CADA. 08-07-2024 / RD Rosemead SAO Deputies had an "active shooter" training in collaboration with the US Marshalls. For their safety, LACADA left the location. Rosemead SAO Deputies responded to "Jay Park" and found an encampment of multiple individuals. Rosemead SAO Deputies detained 4 persons. After the investigation, 3 persons were arrested for misdemeanor unlawful camping and storage of personal property at the indicated location. During the investigation, Rosemead SAO Deputies saw a moped motorcycle parked adjacent to the park. SAO Deputies inspected the moped and discovered the moped was reported stolen out of the Montebello PD. An additional person was arrested for driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, a Felony violation of io851(a) CVC. OPERATIONS o8-14-2024/ RD 05331 Rosemead SAO Deputies assisted Code Enforcement with a business compliance check at a Motel in the city of Rosemead. Rosemead SAO Deputies provided security while Code Enforcement checked the rooms of the motel. During the compliance check, several individuals inside the motel were discovered to be on probation or parole. A compliance check of the probationers and parolees was conducted. At the completion of the motel compliance check, several issues were addressed with the motel manager. o8-13-2024/ RD 0531 Rosemead SAO Deputies assisted the Taskforce for Regional Auto -theft Prevention unit with recovering a stolen vehicle that was reported stolen for over a year. It was discovered that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was altered and changed. The individual who was in possession of the vehicle rented the vehicle from an auto dealership. A follow up investigation is being conducted as it is believed the dealership where the vehicle was rented from is renting out stolen vehicles with altered VIN's. l' DAILY OPERATIONS SAO team members adjust schedules to work daytime and evening operations based on crime trends. MOTOR DEPUTY o8-o8-2024 — o8-14-2024/ RD 0530-0536 .,4 Cites issued. 2 Warnings issued The Motor Deputy along with traffic services deputies conducted a two-day traffic operation in the city of Rosemead. Three motor deputies monitored the heavy traffic areas and schools throughout the city of Rosemead. In two days, the motor deputies cited 49 vehicles for several California Vehicle Code violations. OTHER o8-o9-2024/ RD 0530 Rosemead SAO Deputies participated in the National Night Out at Rosemead Park which was followed by a concert. Rosemead SAO Deputies walked around and communicated with the residents while helping out the younger kids with completing a scavenger hunt. Rosemead SAO Deputies immediately responded and observed both individuals running towards a vehicle and loading the items inside. As the vehicle was about to drive off, Rosemead SAO Deputies conducted a traffic stop and detained all three individuals. Upon investigation, all three individuals were working in concert. They stole several AC units with the purpose of re -selling them in the black market for a profit. All three individuals were charged with theft related felony charges. OTHER o8-20-2024 Rosemead SAO Deputies received a ten-hour training course on narcotics. The training course covered new and upcoming drugs that are being introduced in Southern California. The course also n7pp iE e pp ' CKgCKER _l. Via.` A :r 08-21-2024 Rosemead SAO Deputies received an 8-hour training course on illegal "Street Takeovers" by the California Highway Patrol. The course covered methods and procedures on how to safely and tactically stop a street take over. The deputies also had a learning course on modified vehicles by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. The course focused on how to detect illegal modifications performed on vehicles. OTHER o8-16-2024/ RD 0530 Rosemead SAO Deputies provided security for the final summer concert at Rosemead Park. 08-1Q-2024/ RD O.riRO Rosemead SAO deputies do daily patrol checks of local retail stores such as Walmart and Target. Rosemead SAO Deputies continue their mutual partnerships by responding to those stores when they have an active theft which provides a faster response in detaining and arresting individuals who steal from those stores. Rosemead SAO Deputies assist the retail stores with identifying the persons who steal and/or who are usually conducting these similar thefts at other retail stores from other cities. The stores document the loss amount and can eventually seek restitution on their losses from the thieves identified by Rosemead SAO deputies. o8-14-2024/ RD oriw Rosemead SAO deputies continue to conduct patrol checks of businesses throughout the city of Rosemead in order to ensure houseless individuals are not creating disturbances. Upon completion of the operation, two suspects were arrested. Suspect #1 was arrested for narcotic related charges and was additionally charged for violating his probation. Suspect # 2 was arrested on a felony warrant for not checking in with probation officer on a monthly basis, violating his probation. Rosemead SAO Deputies passed out stickers and took pictures with kids next to the LASD show car. 08-26-2024 Rosemead SAO Deputy was subpoenaed to court to testify for a case involving a kidnapping suspect who was apprehended in the city of Rosemead by the SAO Deputies. The suspect was also charged for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a firearm. The suspect was ultimately held to answer and is currently facing a 5—io-year prison term.
